Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT)

The Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) Research Group, led by Dr. Maria Pau Ginebra, belongs to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).

The BBT focuses its research on the development of biomaterials for the regeneration and / or functional repair of tissues and organs, both at the level of more basic research and in its task of transferring knowledge to companies and hospitals in the sector.

The BBT offers various characterization and analysis services, among which stand out:
- analysis of surfaces of different materials, using microscopy techniques

- mechanical, physical, chemical, structural and electrochemical characterization of materials

- thermal and surface treatments

- techniques for the biological characterization of surfaces and materials: cell and microbiological cultures

- in-vivo studies and histological analysis of the samples obtained

- expert analyzes and forensic engineering

- data analysis and processing
